boxie

Boxie quickstart

One workspace. Two ways in.

Start a real cloud workspace in the browser, then return through its desktop or SSH. Your home directory, tools, and account setup survive stop and resume.

Starter access includes one Box for up to 60 minutes. No card required.

Disposable mode

Boxie VM preview

Need a shell now and nothing to preserve? Run ssh vm.sharenow.today. Approve the session through ShareNow All Access; the preview VM is destroyed on disconnect. Compare it with a persistent Boxbefore choosing where durable work should live.

01 · Create

Create your first Box.

Open Boxes, choose Create your starter Box, and keep the one-hour auto-stop selected. Boxie shows machine setup, tool preparation, and account setup while it provisions. You can leave the page; the Box keeps starting.

02 · Browser access

Open the desktop.

When the state becomes ready, choose Open desktop. Smooth desktop is the default; Compatible desktop is the fallback for browsers or networks that block the primary stream. The Box detail page stays open so you can return to controls at any time.

03 · Terminal access

Install the CLI.

Run boxie login --device. Your browser opens ShareNow for approval and the CLI stores the resulting credential locally. No API key needs to pass through a prompt, clipboard, or shell history. Create a manual key only for non-interactive automation that cannot use browser approval.

install-boxie.sh
curl -fsSL https://boxie-api.sharenow.today/install.sh | sh
connect.sh
# Sign in through ShareNow. No API key to copy.
boxie login --device

# Open the Box shown in its detail page.
boxie ssh bx_EXAMPLE

04 · Agent subscriptions

Connect Codex and Claude.

In Agents, choose subscription for Codex or Claude, open the provider authorization link, then paste the returned code. The connection belongs to the account and applies to active Boxes as well as future create and resume operations. Open a fresh terminal session before testing a connection added while another shell was already running.

05 · Account setup

Secrets.

Add ordinary environment variables or files in the Vault. Saving a change preserves untouched entries and applies additions, updates, and removals to active Boxes. Provider subscription credentials stay hidden and can only be changed from Agents.

06 · Persistence

Stop and resume.

Stop a Box when you are done paying for active machine time. Boxie snapshots its durable workspace, archives the machine, and restores that workspace on Resume. Auto-stop performs the same safe path when its timer expires.

Repositories today

Clone public code from the terminal.

Automatic repository connection is not part of the first-run flow yet. For a public repository, clone it directly after opening Desktop or SSH. For private code, use your normal Git credentials inside the Box and avoid putting tokens in a snapshot or shell history.

clone.sh
# Public repositories work today from the Box terminal.
git clone https://github.com/owner/repository.git
cd repository
